The Department of Biology at Hacettepe University was founded as the Biology Institute in 1965. In 1967, it was incorporated into the Faculty of Science at Hacettepe University. Over the years, it has expanded with the addition of divisions such as Botany, Molecular Biology, Zoology, Hydrobiology, General Biology, Biotechnology, Ecology, and Applied Biology.
